Three mall employees fell off a bridge and into the river in Angadanan, Isabela, last Saturday, resulting in the death of one of them.
Superintendent Julius Go, Isabela Police Provincial Office (PPO) spokesman, said Kevin Rivera, 20, an employee of SM Savemore and resident of Echague, Isabela, drowned after falling off the Pigalo Bridge in Barangay Centro 2, Angadanan.
Two of Rivera’s lady companions – both also employees of Savemore Angadanan branch – were rescued after they fell off the damaged bridge at 6:45 p.m., said Go.
Chief Inspector Danny Alingog, local police chief, said the body of Rivera was fished out of the water around 2 a.m. yesterday.
It was learned that the three had slipped off a damaged portion of the bridge.
Alingog said the bridge was damaged during a typhoon three years ago, but has not been repaired.
Residents of the area have called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to prioritize the repair of the damaged bridge to prevent future fatal accidents.
